Merriman Placed on Injured Reserve

The Buffalo Bills have placed outside linebacker Shawne Merriman on injured reserve, ending the former All-Pro's first season with the Bills before it even began.

Buffalo acquired Merriman, 26, from the San Diego Chargers last month when the team waived him. Merriman re-injured his achilles tendon just minutes into his first practice with Buffalo.

Merriman tallied only six tackles this season before San Diego placed him on injured reserve. The Chargers were forced to waive Merriman once he was healthy.

Buffalo is 2-8 this season and rank 29th in the league with 16 sacks.
