O'Neal Returns To Cleveland
By Justin Worsley
Cleveland Cavaliers center Shaquielle O'Neal has returned to the team after recovering from a torn ligament in his thumb on Feb. 25 while blocking a shot during a game against the Celtics, according to the Associated Press.
O'Neal, who underwent surgery on the torn ligament, has not traveled with the team, instead resting in his Florida home. On Monday, O'Neal returned to Cleveland to speak with team doctors and general manager Danny Ferry. O'Neal will not travel with the team today to Detroit as they face the Pistons. O'Neal will face a brief rehabilitation period before returning to the team.
The Cavaliers traded for O'Neal during the summer, hoping to finally piece together a championship-winning team in the final year of Lebron James' contract. O'Neal has started all 53 games he has played in Cleveland, averaging 12 points per game and 6.7 rebounds per game.
