The Cleveland Browns have named Philadelphia Eagles defensive backs coach Dick Jauron as their new defensive coordinator.

Jauron, 60, has been a coach in the NFL since 1085, including head coaching stints with the Chicago Bears and the Buffalo Bills. Jauron was also named the interim coach of the Detroit Lions in 2005.

2010 was Jauron's lone season in Philadelphia. In 2001, Jauron was named the Associates Press Coach of the Year after the Bears went 13-3 after a 5-11 campaign in 2000.

Cleveland fired head coach Eric Mangini after consecutive 5-11 seasons. Former defensive coordinator Rob Ryan left the team for the same position with the Dallas Cowboys.

The Browns finished the season 22nd in the league in yards allowed but still managed to be in the top-half of the league in points allowed with 20.8 points per game.
