Merriman Sticks With Bills
By Justin Worsley,
Outside linebacker Shawne Merriman has decided to stay with the Buffalo Bills. On Saturday, Buffalo announced that Merriman signed a two-year extension with the team.
Buffalo acquired Merriman in a midseason waiver-wire pick up, however, the three-time All-Pro injured his calf 15 minutes into his first practice with the team and was placed on injured reserve.
The deal is good for $10.5 million and includes several incentives based on Merriman's performance and health.
The player nicknamed "Lights Out" was one of the league's premier pass rushers early in his career but has suffered a slip in production largely due to injuries. He has played in a combined 16 games over the last three seasons.
Buffalo is 28th in the league with 26 sacks.
