The Washington Nationals have signed first baseman Adam LaRoche to a two-year deal late Tuesday night according to the Associated Press.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Washington was seeking a replacement for Adam Dunn, who signed with the White Sox last month. LaRoche, 31, batted .261 last season with 25 home runs and 100 RBIs with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Nationals also signed fellow right-handed batter Jayson Werth to bolster their lineup. Washington has finished in last place in the NL East for the past three seasons.

Washington is expected to announce the deal on Thursday after LaRoche passes a physical. LaRoche has a career batting average of .271 along with 161 home runs in a course of seven seasons.
