By Justin Worsley,

The Baltimore Orioles have added more power to their offensive lineup, signing first baseman Derek Lee to a one-year deal on Friday.

Financial terms were not disclosed and the deal is pending on a physical.

Lee, 35, will play in the American League for the first time. Last season, Lee hit 19 home runs and 80 RBIs last season while batting .260 with the Chicago Cubs and the Atlanta Braves.

The Orioles can also split Lee with Luke Scott between designated hitter and first base. Scott led the Orioles last year with 27 home runs.

Atlanta acquired Lee in a waiver-wire trade last August and he helped the Braves reach the playoffs for the first time since 2005.

Lee has hit 86 homers in the last four seasons.
