Pacquiao's Next Opponent to be Shane Mosely
By Justin Worsley,
ESPN.com's Dan Rafael has reported that Manny Pacquiao has agreed to defend his welterweight title against "Sugar" Shane Mosely on May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Pacquiao, 32, was attempting to reschedule his canceled fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. Mayweather, however, has not responded to Pacquiao's camp. The two were originally slated to fight last March until Pacquiao refused to submit to Olimpic-style blood testing, which would involve him having blood drawn within 14 days of the fight, which he thought would weaken him.
Instead, Pacquiao decided to defend his title against Joshua Clottey, who he defeated by a unanimous decision.
Pacquiao also won the WBC Super Welterweight title last month after defeating Antonio Margarito by a unanimous decision. Overall, the Philipino southpaw is 52-3-1 with 38 knockouts.
Mosely, 39, last fought in September, a split decision with Sergio Mara, and lost by unanimous decision to Mayweather last May. In his career, Mosely is 46-6-1 and has 39 knockouts.
The event will also be hosted on pay-per-view. This will be the first time the two fighter will be pitted against one another.
